Karakousis Leads the PokerStars.com EPT Prague on the First Day of High Roller

The 10,000 pound High Roller event attracted a total of 135 unique players and 34 re-entries. It turned out to be so big that a third day had to be added, but there is a chance of an even higher number of participants as a provision has been made for late registration on the second day. After the ten one-hour levels were over, it was Georgios Karakousis who ended up with the maximum number of chips.

Davidovitz becomes the first to be eliminated

There was an interesting duel between Davidovitz and Guigon. Davidovitz tried his luck by calling with his pair of kings, but Guigon was ready for it with his own pair of aces. The board ran out with two of diamonds, jack of hearts, seven of clubs, two of spades and queen of diamonds and Davidovitz was eventually eliminated.

Sam Greenwood gets busted

There were three players in the middle Martin Kabrhel had the biggest stack with also the biggest hand with a pair of queens. Kent Lundmark was the next in line with a pair of jacks and Sam Greenwood was the last man. When the community cards fell, it was curtains for Sam Greenwood.

Busquet doubled his chips thanks to Lykov

The bet was made for 8000 chips with Busquet placing 5000 and Lykov placing 3200. When the cards were finally revealed, Busquet had a pair of eights while Lykov was left with a pair of sevens. When the board was revealed with a four of spades and two of diamonds followed by ten, nine and queen of hearts. Busquet doubled his chips and Lykov was left with just 18,000 chips.

Higgins wins a huge pot against Oleksii Khoroshenin

There was a bet of 20,000 in front of Higgins and 12,000 in front of Khoroshenin. He raised the bet to 35,000 and Higgins made the call. There was over 70,000 in the pot by the time the flop hit the felt. When the ten of hearts hit the turn, Khoroshenin set Higgins all-in for 92,000 and after short while, Higgins called in with his ace of clubs and jack of hearts which triumphed over Khoroshenin’s six of diamonds and six of spades.

Shak was busted while being involved in a three way

When a pre-flop war was raised, three players were involved in the middle with all the chips. Dan Shak with a pair of tens, Karakousis with a pair of kings and Julian Thomas with an ace and queen. When the cards ran out, Julian Thomas had a narrow escape, but Shak was ousted.

Shannon Shorr improved upon the number of chips

Shorr opened from under the gun and called soon after which Puchkov three-bet from the middle position. On the flop, Puchkov continued to bet and Shorr flat called. At the showdown, Shorr opened with a pair of queens which was good enough at the turn and river.

Vamplew fought back with a six-bet shove against Mike McDonald

Two former EPT champs were head-to-head when Vamplew opened with a raise from the cut-off which made McDonald three-bet from the button. Vamplew four-bet to 5000 while McDonald five bet to 11,000. When the cards were raised, Vamplew came up with a pair of jacks while McDonald came up with a pair of kings. When the dealer put out the flop, the board came up with a nine of clubs at the turn and three of spades at the river which gave Vamplew a full double.

Igor Yaroshevskyy eliminated by Kabrhel

When the board read king of diamonds, queen of clubs, eight of diamonds, seven of diamonds and seven of clubs, Kabrhel splashed over 25,000 which Igor thought he could cover, but Kabrhel came up with an ace and jack of diamonds to finish off Igor.

Jonathan Little is on fire

It has been pretty smooth for Little in the high roller. It was Lithuania’s Anaras Alekberovas against him and Little’s ace of hearts and jack of diamonds was enough to finish off Anaras who had a queen of spades and jack of clubs. There was a lot more action which would be covered in the later part of the day.
